SATELLITE SCHOOLS

An integral part of the External Studies Department is the network of Satellite Schools. These schools use SIBI instruction but are administered locally by individuals who serve as agents of SIBI.

In the pre-digital era, Satellite Schools were set up in hundreds of churches to provide access to SIBI’s curriculum while continuing to serve and grow in their local congregations. The model was for classes to meet every week at a local congregation to watch 24-minute lessons on VHS tapes and later DVD’s. Local administrators would serve as proxies for the assignments that would be mailed to the External Studies Department of Sunset School of Preaching (at the time). It was a successful program that combined the solid, biblical teaching of SIBI with the community of local community.

With the development of Sunset Online Studies, Satellite Schools look a little different today than in the past. Many are still actively training the body of Christ, but much of the administrative work is now handled through SunsetOnline.org.

Satellite School courses are available at three levels:

  • Audit level – for personal enrichment without assignments or exams

  • Certificate level – for structured study with recognition of completion

  • Credit level – for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree

Certificates of completion or a bachelor’s degree can be earned upon completion of the full curriculum, with all certificates and degrees awarded directly through SunsetOnline.org. Students who study beyond the audit level complete all requirements through the online courses while learning alongside their church classroom.

If you would like to bring these courses into your church, please contact Britton Pruitt, Director of Church Development, for more information.
